Peaks of the Day: The Look of Love

It doesn’t seem to matter whether they’ve just started their mission to muscle or they’re a big name fbb with years of growth behind them. If photographic evidence is anything to go by, muscular women just can’t get enough of their own biceps.

And why not? Even if the woman in question is more naturally muscular than most, she still needs to do her curls. Even if certain substances are used, those peaks aren’t going to rise if she spends her time sat on the sofa watching The Jeremy Kyle Show.

And when she’s doing those curls, focusing her thoughts into the muscle, isn’t it the done thing to look at it? She’s willing it to grow before her very eyes, watching it get bigger, thicker, fuller and peakier with every rep. Yes, Dani! Do it! Grrrrrrr!

But apparently exercising the muscle isn’t the only time she wants (needs?) to see it at its proudest. Any excuse will do. Take Mona Muresan (below) – is it just me or is Mona getting a bit emotional about that (highly impressive) peak of hers?

Look at the camera, Marcie… Look at the camera real quick… Just wanna get one shot into camera Marcie… Looking great, Marcie… eyes to camera now…

I wonder if the amount of time spent in loving gaze is in any way proportionate to the size of the muscle. Does the self-adoration grow as the muscle does? To find out you’d have to spend a lot of time with women of varying levels of muscularity and record in detail how often they checked out their own flexed biceps. Then watch how this changes as they grow… Someone should do that. I should do that. As soon as I’m done with this post, I think I’ll make an application for funding from The Pennypacker Foundation. I’d have to study a lot of them to get truly definitive results. I’d have to study a lot of them over a long period of time to gather sufficient evidence.

I might need some volunteers to help out…

But not with Oana. I’ll study Oana myself thank you very much.

Former gymnast, dancer and martial artist Gillian Ward has had quite a first year as a Physique competitor. I am intensely driven and truly believe that I am capable of anything that I put my mind to, she says. Well, believe! She won her first ever contest in April, and by the end of August had won open and over 35 classes at the North Americans and was promptly awarded her pro card. I know nothing other than being strong, says Gillian, in reference to her athletic achievements both past and present. I very much enjoy it. Being strong makes me feel capable and empowered.

Isn’t it good to know that somewhere there’s a federation where hardcore female muscle is still appreciated? The NAC judges its “Physique” women on muscular development, muscular proportions, symmetry of development, and muscular definition, allowing the biggest hardest woman to win every time. Monia Gioiosa was that big hard woman in 2011 and 2012, and won for the third time this year.

Prof. Pennypacker’s Pectarium

Recorded webcam with Alina. She has changed her hair and is, to my delight, now brunette. She bounced for me for over half an hour. Her ever-growing pectorals filled the screen. Heavenly. I spent the rest of the evening filing caps. I wonder if I would have had any career at all if I had discovered muscle women at a younger age.

Though the professor came to female muscle late in life, his archives, as far as we can tell, encompass the entire history of the sport of female bodybuilding as well as the strong women of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

With their rejection of the breast tissue that to a large extent defines the female body as distinct from that of the male, female bodybuilders declare their independence from the established ‘rules’ of womanhood. They are utterly unique in adopting this position. No other group of women so vehemently rejects the roles and conventions assigned to them. They stand alone but united in a sisterhood of which the badge of belonging are the muscles where their breasts ‘should’ be.

Jennings is as masculine as any current female bodybuilder. The size and mass of her pectorals are intoxicating. In the past if you had told me a woman was called Rosemary I would have imagined a cake baker from the WI, all Laura Ashley, walks with the dog and church on Sunday. Now when I hear the name I see this wonderful beast of a woman in my mind’s eye. How times have changed!

‘Pec Purists’ should not celebrate Pennypacker as one of them. Though it is obvious from what has emerged from his archives at this early stage that the professor enjoyed what you might call the unadulterated chest above all others, he was certainly not averse to some artificial enhancement, or, to use the parlance of our times, ‘bolt-ons’. Having said that, women who have chosen to have more extreme levels of breast enhancement, like Yvette Bova or Lynn McCrossin, for example, are conspicuous in their absence from the archive the professor installed into The Pectarium.

Kresila is utterly beguiling. I fantasise about showing colleagues a picture of her. I’d wait for them to say, as they surely would, that she is a rare beauty, and then, and only then, would I reveal an image of her magnificent body. As she was on cam this evening. Topless and 100% muscle-chested. Their incomprehension would be something to cherish, and surely the two images would haunt them.

No big surprise that Oana is FMS readers’ Queen of Abs Queens. It wasn’t even remotely close. She received over half of all the votes cast, and even if she hadn’t I would have chosen her as number one anyway, so, (in the best tradition of female bodybuilding contests) the winner was known before the voting began!

But unlike some female bodybuilding contests, I don’t think there will be any complaints about the result. After all, we’re not the first, and we probably won’t be the last, to claim that Oana has the best abs on the planet.

There are few finer sights in the female muscle world than Elena lifting up her shirt to reveal her eight-pack, or Oana hitting the abdominals and thighs pose in competition. As we’ve seen before this week, for fans, it’s not just about having visible abs, our favourites all seem to have thick mountainous ridges of muscle, rising from and separated by deep valleys that cut into the abdominal wall. Elena’s abs are the epitome of this female muscle phenomenon.

She has said she rates her shoulders and back as her best body parts, and also admits to ‘being known’ for her traps, but FMS simply cannot believe she isn’t aware of how good her abs are. She’s made so many abs fetish posing clips for her own website, often coating them with oil for her members’ viewing pleasure, and on stage, for example at the 2012 NABBA Worlds (which she won), she was still hitting abs shots while they were trying to present her with her medal (see Images of 2012 for more on that). Oana doesn’t fool me. Her shoulders, her back, her traps, hell, throw in her pecs too, her whole upper body is sensational, but there are a lot of FBBs with big bad upper bodies. Her abs, on the other hand, well, they are truly unique, truly her fortune.

And she knows it.

Observe these shots from the recent WABBA Worlds. Ignore everything else and focus on the abs. Am I the only one who thinks it looks as though Elena is not only in a different class to the other women, but also seems to be from an entirely different species?! And by the way, she finished second – what were we saying about contest results? The winner was Italy’s Cristina Franzoso, in the centre in the bottom picture. Really! It’s unpleasant at contests where you’re not judged right, says Oana, showing an exceptional grasp of the power of understatement. It can happen often. Too true!

But enough of that. Let’s get back to what we came for, to sing the praises of the finest abdominals in the female muscle world right now. Ah yes, her fortune. Had a webcam with Oana? Or seen one? If the answer to both of these questions is ‘No’, FMS strongly suggests you get busy putting that right. There is nothing in my experience quite as breathtaking as Oana’s abs up close and personal (well, as personal as a computer screen gets, anyway) especially when you are the one she’s flexing them for. It’s the female muscle fan equivalent of seeing the face of God or something. And she’s never really off-season, so whenever you decide to put your hand in your pocket for a bit of Queen Muscle on HerBicepsCam, you will not be disappointed.

Oana runs her hands through her hair as she gazes at herself in the mirror. I stand behind her and gently place my trembling fingers onto her mighty biceps. Her skin is so soft, and my heart pounds as I make firm my grip in anticipation of what is to come. She winks at me in the mirror, inhales and then almost imperceptibly twists her wrists. The biceps were hard before, but that tiny movement has turned them into two solid balls of rock. There is no give for my aching fingers. I am light-headed, my breathing shallow, so in awe am I of her beauty, her strength and her power…

One of the great things about following female bodybuilding in the internet age is the ability it gives you to follow the development of your favourite women more closely than ever before possible. And one of the joys that gives us, as far as I’m concerned, is that wonderful time when you can see a woman approaching her best, her physique becoming truly breathtaking.

And recent material of Oana has led me to the conclusion that she has reached that point now. In the last couple of years, she’s grown – there’s no doubt about that, and sacrificed none of her natural looks while doing so, but it’s more than that. Her muscles have matured. We are about to see her at her absolute peak.

Her perfect eight-pack abs have, quite rightly, been renowned for many years. But now her whole upper body, and especially those biceps, impressive ever since she first came to our attention, are two of the wonders of the world.

I can’t promise that all the ‘guns’ (or ‘pythons’, or whatever you like to call them) that we’re going to see this week are as magnificent as Oana’s are, but we are going to see a lot of them. After all, there’s nothing that says ‘powerful, sexy and confident’ quite like a female bodybuilder showing off her biceps.

Winners of 2012: Part Two

Physique? Again?! Is he going soft on us?

No, I still love the big girls, but Nola deserves a mention. To win the first two professional shows that you compete in is quite an achievement it seems to me, and that is what Nola did in 2012. And furthermore, they were two high profile, very competitive shows. And she’s a trained fire fighter. And she did a tour of duty in Iraq in 2010. So relax, there are big girls on their way.

NPC USA Championships
TIERANY CHERTIEN

There’s something very familiar about Tierany. The body shape, the conditioning, the full muscle maturity. It’s almost like she’s from the same gene pool as Lesa Lewis or Heather Foster. We foresee success for her as a pro in the very near future…

CBBF Canadian Nationals
JOANNE WILLIAMS

The Canadian Nationals is, in my opinion, one of the great amateur contests. The roll of honour reads a bit like the file list in my special ‘Favourites’ folder. 2002 Marnie Power, 2003 Helen Bouchard, 2004 Louise St Pierre, 2005 Autumn Raby,
2006 Nicole Ball, 2007 Nadia Nardi, 2008 Athena Signakis, 2009 Lyris Cappelle,
2010 Melody Spetko, 2011 Fabiola Boulanger, and now, in 2012 Joanne Williams. And I for one don’t think she’d look out of place in a line-up with her predecessors.

NABBA Worlds + WBPF European(?) Championship

The Queen of Abs became NABBA World Champion back in June, completely outclassing the field. Unfortunately, it’s quite hard to find images of NABBA shows sometimes, so we’ll have to settle for screen caps this time. But however blurry they may be, Oana’s abdominal defintion is always razor-sharp! Check out the third picture down where she’s posing with the other winners. The guy on the right seems a little distracted by the divine eight-pack only feet away from him.

And then there was this…

Possibly the greatest mismatch ever seen on a bodybuilding stage, Oana and a woman who had once had a gym membership slugged it out for the WBPF title…

WPBF is the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation, a mainly Asian-based group that seems to be spreading its wings into Europe in an east to west direction, backed by Emirati money – the Manchester City of physique federations, perhaps.

Anyway, you have to feel sorry for both of contestants here, but Oana does look great. It was soon after her NABBA win and she still had the conditioning. But I think we can all agree that she needs to stop competing against the cleaner’s girlfriend, and start competing in bigger shows in 2013.

IFBB Wings of Strength Chicago Pro

Mmmmmonique has seemed destined for great things for a couple of years now. To me anyway, there’s something about her frame that says future Miss Olympia, genetically it seems she has a lot of latent potential there that hasn’t been brought out yet. It feels like her first pro win was long overdue, and she delivered in Chicago, then Mmmmmonique and those big dark eyes came in 7th at the Olympia later in the year.

How much do we love the Arnold Classic Europe? The cream of European bodybuilding all on the stage together with a few South Americans thrown in. Last year there was much teeth-gnashing as Elena Shportun defeated Katka for the title (see October 2011 post) and would you believe it? Katka comes back in 2012 and is runner-up again! Always the bridesmaid…

But this time there hasn’t been any whining about stoopid judges getting it all wrong, because this time the winner was Jacqueline Fuchs. And you don’t say that Jacqueline didn’t deserve to win because if you do she WILL find out where you live and she WILL NOT stop until she finds you and gives you your punishment…

Arnold Classic Europe

And while Jacqueline was winning the bodybuilding, a vision of Central European beauty was winning the shorter of the two physique classes. I’ll say it again – how much do we love the Arnold Classic Europe?

Miss International
YAXENI ORIQUEN

It’s a testament to Yaxeni’s exemplary record of consistency and success that she finishes 3rd at the Miss Olympia (her lowest placing since 2009) and we think it was a bad year for her. But back in March she won Miss International for the fifth time in all and the first time since 2008. One of the all-time greats, yes, but also still one of the very top bodybuilders competing today. Write her off at your peril.

Most Muscular of the Day

From early on, Oana had the physique ripe for showing off in the most muscular way, and as she’s developed, her interpretation of this pose has just got better and better.

I haven’t treated myself to a webcam show for quite a few years now (I know, the discipline of a Trappist monk I have) but if anyone is going to make me fall off the wagon (and fall spectacularly at that) it’ll be Queen Muscle herself.

Abs of the Day

If FMS is posting a week’s worth of abs photos, it’s a fair bet that sooner or later Oana Hreapca will be making an appearance. And, stone me, if it isn’t the Eight-Pack Goddess herself right here! Beauty, sex appeal, curves all over, and two more abdominal muscles over the asking rate at no extra cost. What’s not to like?
