August Picture Post: Gym Bodz

imagebam.com

Disgust? Intimidation? Arousal? What would your reaction be? (I know it is hard to believe but there are some who would be disgusted at the sight of a genuine female muscle beast at their gym. Or at least they would claim to be disgusted…)

imagebam.com

Reasons why it is probably not a good idea to get competitive or try to impress her by lifting as much or more weight than she is: 1. Risk of serious injury. 2. She is hardly going to be impressed if you can only do half a rep with that weight, is she?

imagebam.com

Arousal? Looks to me like Marthe Sundby is plenty aroused by the pump she’s got going here. Training is my passion, she says. And she obviously means it.

imagebam.com

Intimidation? Looking powerful, feeling powerful. And if you don’t get your scrawny self off that machine and into a far corner of the gym tout de suite, Virginia is going to demonstrate how powerful she is by throwing you through the wall. Yikes!!!

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Arousal? Muscles bulging in and out of revealing skin tight gym wear. Mouth-watering muscles, mouth-watering curves. Curves where lesser women don’t even have bits. Superior women know what their muscle curvy bodies do to you. Aleesha knows. Kashma knows. Margie knows. One look and you’re scurrying to the locker room.

imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

Alpha. Gillian won’t take that selfie till the last man/woman has been inimidated out of her space, until her ownership of the gym is absolute. Lisa, meanwhile, well, Lisa loves an audience, loves to have all eyes in the gym on her. Lisa loves a reaction, and judging from the position of the guy on the right’s hands, she’s getting one here.

imagebam.com

Be warned. Your fascination for female muscle is limitless, but, as a man, multi-tasking is not your strong point. Attempting any kind of actual lifting while simultaneously checking her muscles out is going to be a fast track to injury and/or humiliation. Do not, under any circumstances, do as this Freitas-fixated fella is doing and attempt to press anything without giving it your full attention. Focus on ONE thing, dude!

imagebam.com

Be warned. Tape it down! Seriously, if you know Shannon Peters trains in your gym (or you’ve found out where Shannon trains and made it your gym despite the fact it’s a four-hour round trip) then you only have yourself to blame if everyone can see your mini Mars bar causing a commotion in your gym shorts. What did you think was going to happen? And now you are ‘Stiffy Guy’ to all at the gym. Including Shannon. Doh!

Enjoy!

100 Biceps: Day 4

Today’s post is what they call “NSFW” by the time you reach the end, although to be honest I suppose how “safe for work” anything is depends very much on what exactly “work” is. What’s “safe” for an Antarctic post master is, I imagine, very different from what’s “safe” for an inner-city primary school teacher.

Anyway, time for some biceps in motion with a selection of my 10 favourite biceptual gifs from the utter genius that is ShirtRippers2.0 on Tumblr. Enjoy!

MARJA LEHTONEN
We gave Marja’s bad boys a whole post of their own on Sunday, but included
her again because, well, more Marja is never a bad thing, is it?
TINA CHANDLER: 033, 034
“Which one do you prefer?” says Tina. “The left or the right?”
Well, I really couldn’t say. Show me them again…

ELENA OANA HREAPCA: 035, 036
For my money, the most beautiful woman in the world. Is it just my imagination
or does she sniff it pre-flex? Bet it smells as good as it looks!

KASHMA MAHARAJ I: 037, 038
If you could guarantee a barely-covered Kashma would be on the dance floor tonight
I might be persuaded that my clubbing days were not over after all.

SIMONE OLIVEIRA: 039
Fully pumped. Not just her arm, either.
And not just the bits you can see I’ll bet.

VIRGINIA SANCHEZ: 040
What would you like to do to Virginia’s massive peak?
(Or perhaps “on” Virginia’s massive peak?!)

KASHMA MAHARAJ II
More Kashma. About to rip it all off and reveal her
rock hard body in all its glory. Or something.

KATKA KYPTOVA I: 041
Gosh! Three Katka’s!!! And all of them arrogant as f**k!!!

ALEESHA YOUNG: 042
Yes, Aleesha, yes I would like to…

KATKA KYPTOVA II: 043
The NSFW bit. Obviously. Mainly because of where it is compelling
your favoured hand to go. Well, am I wrong?

See you tomorrow!

On the Beach…

…with Cyd & Kash

You have to admire the dedication. Even beside the seaside there’s no relaxing for Cydney Gillon and her impressive shoulders. Thanks to Cyd’s glute message, we don’t have to complain that we don’t know where this beach is. Go girl!
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Burying Kashma in the sand while she was having a doze seemed like a good idea at the time, just a bit of fun. But now she’s finally dug herself out she’s all pissed off. If that dude doesn’t get away quick, he might find himself buried in the sand – head first.

Enjoy!

Contest of the Day: Arnold Classic Europe

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Arnold Classic Europe
11th October, Madrid

Although it is ignored by US muscle websites such as Muscular Development and RxMuscle, for a lot of European fans, the Arnold Classic Europe Amateur competition is one of the most eagerly-anticipated of the year. This year, as with the IFBB Worlds as we reported yesterday, there were no weight classes in the Bodybuilding division, just one open class. Fifteen women lined up, thirteen Europeans, a Brazilian, and Kashma Maharaj, (4th place) competing for the British Virgin Islands.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

This year for FMS, the Arnold Amateur was all about the return of Britain’s Lisa Cross. Readers will remember we devoted a whole week to our golden muscle girl in the run up to the contest, working ourselves up into quite a tizz at the thought of Lisa, bronzed and ripped, stepping onto a bodybuilding stage once more. Perhaps she was a little less lush than at her 2011 best, but even so she didn’t disappoint. With her beautiful blond locks complementing her deep deep tan, Lisa exceeded our (ridiculously high) expectations. She was pure mouth-watering muscular sex appeal. And British too! As we reported late on the night of the contest (see Cross Is Back for Real), the judges gave her second place. Whatever. Lisa is back. And how!

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Little did we know that as we were going on about Lisa’s return, another competitor was returning from her own ‘break’ from competition. Once we had had a little lie down after checking out Lisa’s showing (courtesy of the ever-dependable TEAM-ANDRO website, who had the pictures up within hours), third place finisher Natalia Yariz of Russia most definitely caught our eye. A little bit of research later and we had her story. Perhaps the best way of describing this year’s Arnold Amateur would be ‘The All-Is-Forgiven Show’! Perhaps there’s a Russian female muscle blog somewhere that devoted a week to the lovely Natalia in anticipation of her return to the stage after a two-year absence…

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Who doesn’t like a routine that gets down (and dirty) on the stage floor?

imagebam.com

Lithuania’s 4th place finisher at the Worlds, Elena Stasiukyniene, came fifth, rounding off a very satisfactory couple of months for her. And completing the top six was Brazil’s Ana Claudia Pires who I swear looks like a different woman every time I see a new picture of her. Check out her gallery at Girls with Muscle, compare it with the image below, and see what you think.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

But despite the hype FMS tried to generate around Lisa, which I’m sure must have had some influence on the judges (!), the night ultimately belonged to Virginia Sanchez Macias, and even we, ardent Lisa fans that we are, couldn’t begrudge ‘La Tora’ her victory.

imagebam.com

She may not have been the tallest competitor on the stage, but even to my Lisa-biased gaze, it was clear Virginia was a worthy winner. In her hometown, she was both the most muscular and the best-conditioned woman on the stage. And we really do like what she does with those super-sized lips while she’s flexing.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

On her Facebook page on the night of October 11th, probably typing with one hand and still cuddling the trophy with the other, she wrote, Still getting used to the fact that I’ve won the Arnold… thanks to everyone who supports me and follows me on the internet from all over the world, it is a compliment, and helps me a lot as I try to improve every day, a kiss to all. So we all got a kiss from the winner. A kiss from those lips. Sweet.

imagebam.com

But wait! There’s more.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the two Physique classes, not least because there were some seriously sexy women among the 28 contestants. Two of the most beautiful women in the world of female muscle, Mavi Gioia and newly-crowned IFBB World Bodybuilding champion Olga Belyakova both competed in the shorter class and came absolutely nowhere – a point which I feel necessitates illustration.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Italian NABBA veteran and FMS fave Federica Ortu, much smoother than we’ve seen her on when competing in NABBA shows (as well as having a posing suit that covers a lot more of her rear than we’re used to) came fifth, and the incredibly gorgeous Joanna Romano of Spain, who finished second, also grabbed our attention in the short class.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

But it was in the taller class that the real action was. Spanish stunner and runner-up, Cristina Arellano, unknown to me before this contest, is a woman who I promise to keep a very close eye on in the future. ‘Caliente or what?’ as they say in Madrid when the temperature soars. With her flowing jet black hair and (for me anyway) the best abs in her class, I think she’s just devine.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

You can knock Physique if you like, say they’re too small or something, and it’s true these women may not look very big compared to their sisters in the Bodybuilding division, but winner Yeon Woo-ji would be plenty big if she came strutting along your street. And she’s no plain Jane either. Wow.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

I did find, though, that while she looks sensational in these pictures, when I watched footage of her on stage, I was a bit underwhelmed. She seemed to be almost embarrassed to be there, rushing through poses. She may have been suffering from cramp for all I know. Apparently a worthy winner in the pictures, having seen video, I am a little surprised that she won.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

It was Maria Kuzmina (Russia, 4th) who for me was the one truly class act of the whole show. Maria was the overall NABBA Miss Universe in 2011 and 2012, and I doubt she will be ignored by Muscular Development or RxMuscle for very much longer. She looks (to me) like a pro already. A pro who could be a serious challenger in the biggest US shows, a serious challenger for the biggest titles in the sport.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

Maria oozes stage presence, and in fact won the final round. Her fourth place finish was probably down to her softer look in comparison to the top three, but hey, what do I know? Well, I know what I like and I really really like sourcing images of Maria Kuzmina to post here. I’ll just roll my tongue back into my mouth, pick my jaw off the floor and start typing with both hands again…

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Many many many more pictures of the Bodybuilding and Physique contests available at TEAM-ANDRO. Video of all these magnificent creatures flexing their beautiful bodies are also there, so you can see if you agree how charismatic Maria is.

What are you waiting for?

Woman vs Food

imagebam.com
Ever seen the film ‘Diner’? Remember the scene when one of the minor characters, Earl I think his name is, eats ‘the whole left side of the menu’ as a bet? Well, Kashma Maharaj loves that film, and as she also loves feeding her mighty muscles, she can often be found in Florida diners recreating that scene.

A muscle woman’s got to eat. Those muscles that we love so much are just as much the result of her diet as they are of her efforts in the gym. If she wants to grow, she’s got to eat, and she’s got to eat a lot. Female bodybuilders, it seems to me, are not only great athletes, but they’re also great eaters.

While the majority of women who want to lose their extra pounds choose salads, skip meals and generally try to eat less, muscle goddesses not only eat more, but also more often. It may seem counter-intuitive, mainly because most women have fallen for the ‘eat less diet myth’, but female bodybuilders are living proof that if you eat the right things in the right amounts, you can eat five, six, seven, even eight times a day and have hardly any excess fat.

imagebam.com
Yeon Woo Ji has clearly just stuffed her face (and not for the first time that day, I’ll bet), but still has a set of abs lettuce-munchers can only dream of.

But she can’t eat just any old thing, she’s got to eat right. Muscle women know what to eat and crucially when to eat it. So, again, they’re more than just great athletes, they’re also expert nutritionists.

imagebam.com
imagebam.com

And if eating right involves preparing meals for days in advance – as, for example, we learned from Rene Campbell’s description of her travel plans before the Chicago Pro (see Rene Goes Pro) – that’s going to mean eating meals out of airtight containers in hotel rooms, at airports, even on planes.

Frida Palmell has grown to love the home-prepared meals she carries around with her everywhere that she was inspired to pen a poem about it. Entitled ‘An Ode to Tupperware and Plastic Cutlery’, the poem can be read in the original Swedish and an English translation on her website.
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Meanwhile, in her forthcoming autobiography, Mary Hobbs recalls having to flex for a customer officer who was suspicious of the amount of pre-cooked food in her luggage. “After a double biceps and a most muscular he was quite happy with my explanation that I needed all the food to keep my muscles growing,” she recalls.

But after months of dietary discipline, and weeks of heroic pre-contest dieting, there’s always the big post-contest blow-out to look forward to. The one day when the muscle woman gets to have a well-deserved treat.

Susan Rydmyr has revealed to FMS that her motivational mantra is ‘Muscle=Medals and Medals=Micky Ds”.

Meanwhile, muscle goddess Helle Nielsen has more of a sweet tooth, and a big thing for cupcakes. When she sent us this picture for our ‘Woman vs Food’ week she told us that about fifteen seconds after this picture was taken, all those cupcakes in front of her ‘had magically disappeared’.

Enjoy!

Glamour of the Day

We end this week of glamorous muscle women with recent evidence that two winners of our annual Women of the Year title didn’t rest on their laurels when they received that particular (and much-coveted) accolade in 2011.

Penpraghai Tiangngok took a break from competing recently but is due to return to the stage this year and seems to have spent her time off productively if this photo and other recent material is anything to go by. Kashma Maharaj, meanwhile, got back on stage in March, and was Heavyweight champ at the Arnold Amateur.

Thighs of the Day: Know Your Thighs

The quads, quadriceps, quadriceps extensor, or, to give it its full name, the quadriceps femoris is a muscle group – and a large one at that – that includes the four major muscles on the front of the thigh. Apparently, ‘it is the great extensor muscle of the knee, forming a large fleshy mass which covers the front and sides of the femur’. In fact, quadriceps femoris means ‘four-headed muscle of the femur’ in Latin.

left: Rene Marven right: Kashma Maharaj
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Kashma has already competed, taking the heavyweight class at the Arnold Amateur recently. Rene should, all being well, take her pro bow at the start of June at the Toronto Pro. So there’s four four-headed muscles of the femur to watch in 2013.

The quads is, unsurprisingly, subdivided into four ‘heads’, each with its own name. And there are worse ways of getting to know the four heads than looking at pictures of female bodybuilders and their sexy, ripped thighs. It’s certainly more fun than looking at anatomical diagrams, isn’t it? Imagine you’re a medical student. Which image would you recall more readily? Could female bodybuilders be a potential teaching aid?

imagebam.com

imagebam.com imagebam.com
Considerably more interesting to look at than an anatomy book.

The rectus femoris occupies the middle of the thigh. The vastus lateralis is on the outer side of the femur, and the vastus medialis (can you guess?) is on the inner thigh. The vastus intermedius is the one muscle of the quads you are unlikely to see unless you are a surgeon, as it’s under the rectus femoris. Female bodybuilding judges are only really concerned with three of the four ‘quads’ then. Interesting…

left: Roberta Toth right: Anne Freitas
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Even in their native Brazil, where most women’s thighs seem to have impressive structure, muscularity and tone, Roberta and Anne’s three visible heads are standouts. Coxas muito sensuais, as they say in Bahia. Probably.

All four of the quads are extensors of the knee, and come in handy if you want to walk, run, jump or squat. They can be trained by doing leg presses, squats, or, if you really want to isolate them, leg extensions are boss.

left: Lisa Giesbrecht right: Amy Sibcy
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Just look at the vastus lateralises and the vastus medialises on them, he said.
To which I could only reply,
And their rectus femorises ain’t bad either.

More quadriceps femorises (femori? femorae? help!) tomorrow.

New Tube Videos

New Two’s Up clips have been added to the Tube Videos page, so if you fancy watching Patricia Beckman posedown against Lisa Larence (aka Herculiza), checking out Sarah Hayes and Jen Scarpetta posing in their underwear, or feasting your eyes on Rita Sargo worshipping Victoria Dominguez in Dam Square, clink on the link to the page above.

Ripped in Rimini

BodyMiaStella is the YouTube channel of a personal trainer from Rimini, in Italy, who seems to want to show you her muscular body. Why not pay her a visit?

And even better news for those in Emilia-Romagna is that, according to her profile, Stella is ‘available for sessions’.

Kashma in a club

And best of all today, FMS favourite and one of this blog’s 2011 Women of the Year, Kashma Maharaj has her muscles felt up by a smitten clubber in Miami. This clip was on YouTube recently, but was soon taken down, so if you missed it, here it is re-upped on Daily Motion. Hurry though, I can’t see it lasting long there either.

Express Yourself!

imagebam.com imagebam.com
What do these two pictures have in common? Why is it they appeal to me a little bit more than your average snap of a muscular beauty?

The answer is expression. On the left, the open mouth gives the impression that as she flexes she’s saying Yeah! That she loves showing off her muscles. On the right, Brandi’s pout makes me think that by flexing her delicious body for the camera, she is turning herself on. Both women know they’re hot, and by emoting even just a little bit, in their different ways, they are transmitting that to the viewer, ie. me. And that little bit of expression gives my imagination so much more to work with, and consequently elevates these pictures beyond the norm.

Slave loves a good picture of a muscular women, but loves a good picture of an emoting muscular woman even more. Hope you enjoy the examples I have chosen as much as I enjoyed choosing them!

The ‘Yeah!’
imagebam.com
Angelica Mielczarek seems to know the effect her body can have on a man. Wouldn’t you be wide-eyed and open-mouthed if you saw her? Her expression is like a mirror to the viewer/gawper. Wow! Look at her! becomes Wow! Look at me! Very sexy.

Most Muscular
imagebam.com imagebam.com
A most muscular pose without any expression is a wasted opportunity, but Lindsay Cope knows how to make the most of it. Yeah! she seems to be saying, Check me out! What muscle woman doesn’t love displaying the results of her hard work, and through her expression Lindsay puts over the self-confidence, vanity even, that Slave for one cannot resist in muscular females, especially ones who are as drop-dead gorgeous as Lindsay is.

The Roar
imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com
When flexing those guns or finishing their set of 200 press-ups, the feeling just can’t be contained. It has to be let out. And so like mighty lionesses after a successful hunt, their feeling of strength and power is expressed in a mighty roar. Grrrrrrr! Roaaaar! The gym quakes. Knees go weak. Bunnies flee. She is the queen of her jungle.

Routine Emotion #1: Tonie Norman
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Some routines are more memorable than others, some women just have the natural ability to connect with the audience, and as far as I can tell, it’s the ones who are most expressive on stage that achieve this.

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com
Exhibit A: Tonie Norman. Not the biggest, not the most successful, but always a routine worth watching, because, like the routines of way back when, it’s always more of a performance with Tonie, and as these pictures and close-ups illustrate, she’s got a pretty wide variety of expressions to communicate with. I particularly like some expression with my abs and thigh pose, not an easy thing to do given the amount of strain involved, but Tonie pulls it off effortlessly. Again, open-mouthed and wide-eyed, like she’s shocked that she’s just made so many men in the audience grab their crotches all at once.

The Pout
imagebam.com
Nothing better than a big-lipped pout to communicate how sexy she feels posing for the camera, or how into her own body she is. Like Brandi at the top of the post, Gretchen Imes revels in her muscularity, or at least that’s what her pout says to this viewer.

Tongues
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Heather Foster sticks it out on stage (and incidentally shows incredible control of her lower lip in the process), while Kashma’s seems to be unusually long. Nice. She gets better and better, doesn’t she?

Routine Emotion #2: Elena Shportun
imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com
These days, few female bodybuilders give their routine as much artistry and expression as was prevalent in the past. Think of Natalia Murnikovene, Diana Dennis, even Cory Everson. Nowadays, routines often seem to be just a collection of poses set to music, rather than a ‘performance’. But Elena Shportun keeps the flag flying for artistic bodybuilding routines, always giving an emotive, creative and consequently memorable turn. I reckon she would have made a great actress. In fact, she still might!

Homage
imagebam.com imagebam.com
On the left, Liang Yue Yan pays homage to her ancestors by terrifying any Mongolian invaders, while the lady on the right seems to be paying homage to Betty Pariso’s famous tongue-out most muscular.

Of course the one place where you can’t help expressing yourself (unless you aren’t doing it properly) is the gym. Larissa shows us a range of expressions as she punishes her sexy body.

First, an Ooooo
imagebam.com

Then, an Aaaah
imagebam.com

And lastly, a Grrrr
imagebam.com

Double Whammy
And finally, a couple of screenshots of Marja Lehtonen. Now don’t you think they would be so much blander without the expressions? In too many posing videos there isn’t enough eye contact with the viewer in my opinion. Often the ladies look slightly off camera as they take direction. Sometimes they even just stop posing and wait for the director to tell them what to do next. I hate this: it’s lazy on the part of the film-maker, who could just edit the bloody thing a bit, and the less eye contact I get, the sooner I tire of the clip.
imagebam.com
imagebam.com
No danger of either of these things here. Marja’s got you in her sights, gives you wide-eyed open-mouthed, then the roar. Double sexy!

Enjoy!
